In 2007, it was decided to support the research being done in the Faculty of Medicine, by giving a large grant towards the purchase of a Fluorescent Activated Cell Sorter (FACS).

This sophisticated machine has been instrumental in assisting in researching immunities to infections and has been particularly successful with infections like influenza.

It is intended to assist in the sorting of data very quickly, efficiently and with incredible accuracy. It’s ultimate goal is to assit with the assessment of cells, both stem and cancer.
